A Day in the Garden

This was a pretty simple page to make and turned out to be one of the favorites of my 9-year old daughter. I chose textured brown felt to resemble dirt. There are two pockets containing lettuce and carrots that are ready to be picked. In the upper left hand corner there are tomatos and peas attached with snaps. The peapods have beads sewn into them for the peas.

There is a bunny finger puppet (Toysmith $1 purchased at Michael's) behind a white picket fence that may come out to sneak a bite or two.

All of the vegetables can be placed into a woven basket sewn into the bottom left corner.

There is a watering can with ribbon 'water' that is tethered to the page so the vegetables can be tended to.

There is also a small bee tethered to the page. This bee is a personal last minute addition. My son thinks it is a good idea to try to catch bees. I hope a little role play between the bunny and the bee on this page convinces him otherwise.
